In July 2010 a field on the outskirts of Sandwich was transformed into a medieval encampment with living history displays, combat demonstations and a
backdrop of colourful period tents. Visitors met with traditional craftspeople including potters, calligraphers, weavers and leatherworkers. Entertainments included
medieval games, children’s jousting, have-a-go crossbow, storytelling, puppetry and rough theatre, as well as local medieval
band Rough Musicke. An outdoor medieval kitchen provided the sights and smells of
the time, and visitors to the site were able to sample Kentish produce, including locally brewed ales and cider in the
tavern.
The Sandwich Medieval Fayre was hosted by TABAC, a community
arts group comprising members of BASH. To find out about future events, email through the link below and we
will add you to our mailing list.
